The 2009 Index, published this week, provides strong evidence that the countries that maintain the freest economies do the best job of promoting prosperity for all citizens.

On March 18, the RA Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan has received the Canadian Ambassador John Cure.

The Ambassador thanked the Minister for the participation in the annual International Conference of Mining Industry in Toronto, which was held on March 1-4, 2015.

Yervand Zakharyan has expressed hope that the agreements reached with the Canadian companies during the conference will be implemented and the Canadian investments will be included in the Armenia’s mining industry.

Ambassador John Cure mentioned that they also give importance to presence of Canadian companies in Armenia.

Yervand Zakharyan said that the reforms implemented in the legislative field of mining sphere will make the investment field of the sector more efficient and attractive.

The Delegation of the Government of Armenia participated at the world’s largest annual mining convention (PDAC, Toronto, March 1-4, 2015) to promote the Mining industry of Republic of Armenia.

Armenia-Canada Chamber of Commerce supports this mission and organized several meetings for companies like Dundee Precious Metals, Lydian Internarnational, Centerra Gold corporation, Alicanto and others.

 

On 1-3 of March, the RA Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan took part in the annual International Conference of Mining Industry in Toronto.

About 25 million representatives of mining industry from 100 countries are participating in the conference each year: the global players in the field, the sphere policy makers, investors, funders, industrialists and reprocessors among them.

The aim of Toronto Conference is to promote new business avenues in the field of natural resources, between Canada and the countries of the European-Asian region.

The conference is also an excellent opportunity for the participating countries to introduce the possibilities and offers they have regarding the mining sphere.

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan also delivered a speech in the conference.

Within the framework of the Conference Yervand Zakharyan has meetings with a number of mining companies leaders, as well as the companies, who works in Armenia: "Dundee Precious Metals", "Lydian International", "Centerra Gold inc".

Minister Kenney concludes successful trip to Armenia

August 1, 2014 — Ottawa — Jason Kenney, Canada’s Minister of Employment and Social Development and Minister for Multiculturalism, has completed a successful visit to the Republic of Armenia. He is the first Canadian minister to have visited the country since 2002. Armenia-Canada Chamber of Commerce was actively involved in preparation and organizing of this event.

The Minister – who completed his three-day trip yesterday – had a ninety-minute meeting with President Serzh Sargsyan, discussing issues such as trade and investment, the Armenian Genocide, Canada’s support of efforts by Armenia and Turkey to seek a path towards reconciliation, Armenian & Canadian support for refugees from violent persecution in Syria and Iraq, the crisis in Ukraine and alignment by the international community in its response to Russian aggression in Ukraine, and the successful role of Canada's Armenian community.

Minister Kenney discussed these and other issues with Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandyan, Diaspora Affairs Minister Hranush Hakobyan, and National Assembly President Galust Sahakyan.



In 2013, Canadian trade with Armenia totalled more than $100 million. During the visit, on which he was accompanied by several members of the Canadian Armenian community, Minister Kenney met with Canadian companies investing in Armenia and Armenian business leaders to discuss strategies for increasing bilateral trade and investment.

Minister Kenney laid a wreath at the Armenian Genocide Memorial in memory of the victims of what the Senate of Canada has recognized as "the first genocide of the Twentieth Century" and the House of Commons recognized as genocide and “a crime against humanity.”

He also paid respects at the Armenian Memorial to the Victims of Communist Repression, noting that the Government of Canada is working with community groups to build a Canadian Monument to the Victims of Communism.

Finally, Minister Kenney visited the Khor Virap Monastery, a key site in Armenian history near to the symbolically important Mount Ararat; and he attended a service at Holy Etchmiadzin, the spiritual centre of Armenia where Armenian Christianity was born in the year 301, AD.

Canada made the largest investments in Armenia in 2012!

Canada led foreign investments in Armenia in 2012, accounting for more than a fourth -- $102 million of $391 total investment.
According to the National Statistical Service, Russia made $83 million in investment, with Switzerland accounting for $39 million.
Most of Canadian and Swiss money went into mining, while Russia and France led investments in telecommunications.

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 18, ARMENPRESS: 391 million dollar worth investment was made in Armenia in the course of the last passing nine months. Vahagn Lalayan head of Investment Policy Department, Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia stated in the briefing with Armenpress, ''According to first three quarter data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia, foreign direct investment amounted to 221 million dollars''.
In the words of Lalayan, Canada occupies the first place in investment reportedly 102 mln. dollars investment , Russia comes the second with subsequent 83 million dollars investment , then Switzerland 39 million dollars: there are a number of other countries in the list as well. If we dwell on the fields, most investments were made in the mineral industry, then in the field of telecommunications and the third in manufacturing industry. In the field of mining Canada, Switzerland occupy the first place: Russia, France are the leaders in telecommunication field, in manufacturing industry various countries are engaged."France is a leader in the drinks industry, " South Caucasian railway'' leader in land transport sphere and reportedly Zvartnots airport owner in air communication field'' head of Investment Policy Department stated. Lalayan stressed a number of projects have been implemented in 2012 by foreign investments, in the frame of which various factories, particularly in the field of wine and light industry have been exploited in the course of the year.

Armenia Announces Launch of Southern Armenia Railway and High Speed Road Projects

China and Russia to cooperate with Armenia regarding the development of the strategically important railway, which is an essential missing link in the International North-South Transport Corridor

 

18 January 2013 – Yerevan, Armenia

Pursuant to an instruction by the President of the Republic, the Minister of Transport and Communication of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. GagikBeglaryan, announced the launch of the estimated $3 Billion Southern Armenia Railway and Southern Armenia High Speed Road Projects in a presentation, signing ceremony and public announcement attended by senior government officials, ambassadors, investment and sovereign funds, and corporate executives from Armenia, China, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, and Iran.  A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding on regional cooperation towards the development of the Southern Armenia Railway was also signed between South Caucasus RailwayCJSC, the Ministry of Transport and Communication of the Republic of Armenia, and RasiaFZE.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, October 20, 2009. Caldera Resources Inc. (TSX.V: CDR) announced today that the Ministry of Energy of Mines of the Republic of Armenia, has issued an Order granting Caldera’s subsidiary, Biomine LLC, permission to access the Lichkvaz-Tey gold project, to conduct its sampling campaign and due diligence review.

This order follows the permission received from the Minister of the Environment of Armenia, earlier this month; all with the goal to successfully introduce commercially proven bioleaching technology for the recovery of gold and copper to Armenia.

Les Grands Explorateurs", a Montreal-based private, education oriented company, widely known for 36 years for its series of high quality presentations on various countries and cultures of the world, has included in its current season a ciné-conference (a public lecture and a video film) about Armenia and its ancient culture.
